China adventures (2)

Dag lieve mensen,

Allerbeste groeten, Pepijn (of Pippin zoals de meeste mensen me hier noemen)

Three Tsarina's

Early 2008 Pepijn had a solo exhibition at Gasunie (the Dutch Gas providing company) in the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. This exhibition took place at the same time of a beautiful exhibition on Russian 19th century art, all inspired by fairy tales and folk tales, at the Groninger museum. After the exhibition, Gasunie commissioned a sculpture that had to be inspired by the painting 'The Three Tsarina's of the underground realms' by Victor Vasnetsov.

Pepijn started the project in October 2008 and recently finished the 'Tsarina's' (or 'Princesses'), three separate large scale ceramics sculptures. And now, fresh from the kiln, the three ladies are presented at the exhibition 'Art is silver, gas is gold - Gasworks from the Gasunie art collection' in the art hall of the village Slochteren.

Opening friday evening 19th June, 20.00 hrs.
